Management committed to developing a brand new product from scratch within 3 months. Naturally, the sales department immediately sold the product to a customer.
In order to meet the deadline, it was decided to cut out the test phase completely and work out all the flaws after the customers received the product.
At the same time, the project manager felt compelled to behave proactively and promised the customer complete documentation "by the end of next week".
Asking for technical input for above mentioned documentation, the project manager also decided that the project was too time sensitive to waste time on manuals.
The consensus between the technical writers is that the non-functioning poduct will most likely distract the customer from the lack of documentation.
